Global infrastructure company Opus International Consultants (Opus), has been named Company of the Year by the New Civil Engineer (NCE) at this year’s NCE100 Awards in London.

The United Kingdom’s top civil engineering firms were assessed against demanding criteria with the top 100 being decided through an in-depth company survey, employee satisfaction surveys and face-to-face interviews with a 30-strong judging panel.

“These are the companies that we believe you will want to work for and work with.  These are the companies that are moving the industry forward,” said Mark Hansford, Editor at the NCE.

Opus Chief Executive Dr David Prentice believes the result is testament to the strong global team approach.

“This award showcases the talent we have right across the business and the innovative solutions we deliver for all of our clients globally. For me, this is a great reflection on the people, the culture that we have created together and our growing reputation as the leading infrastructure company,” said Dr Prentice.

Although up against some of engineering’s leading global companies, the judges decided Opus as the winner by some margin, after scoring the company highly across all of the competition’s core themes of Engineering Equality, Future Engineer, World View, Future Tech and Technical Excellence.

Opus was also awarded a high commendation in the International Impact category with the judges noting the ground-breaking new approaches to contemporary civil engineering challenges that the company has developed and embedded globally.

“Winning Company of the Year is a great honour in itself but placing highly in each of the competition’s themes demonstrates the breadth of expertise we are able to draw from our global network of engineers, designers, planners, researchers and advisors,” added Dr Prentice.

The winners of the NCE100 Awards were announced on 11 May at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London, United Kingdom.
