Opus developed the concept design for the Manukau Rail and Bus Interchange
This project was done for Manukau City Council and Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA).
The project team was made up of our Transport, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering and Infrastructure teams and assisted by Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) who undertook all cost estimation tasks. The Opus Environmental Division provided environmental engineering and resource consent services.
The concept for the interchange was to respond to the ‘Manukau City Centre Built Form and Spatial Structure Plan' through an urban design process.
The focus was on:
- Future building bulk
- Location and heights
- Future activities and mix of use
- Existing and future pedestrian routes and connections
- Population projections and patronage
- Requirements relating to Transit Oriented Development around the interchange precinct
