Transport Planning ›
Transport planning is about improving and managing our transport systems. At WSP Opus our planning team is 100-strong and we have planners in four design hubs in the main centres.
Transport planning seeks to understand the connections between transport and the future shape of our towns and cities. It’s also about promoting attitudinal change to encourage less reliance on private cars. We can help your organisation or business to see the big picture and to understand the technical, economic, social and environmental considerations of a transport plan or project.
Our planning and urban design specialists can articulate your policy initiatives and long term vision into a strategy that meets the needs of the people the assets are designed for. We have considerable experience in policy development and can provide statutory planning documents, design guidelines, policy statements, feasibility studies and growth strategies.
Our transport modelling specialists use a wide range of macro, micro and intersection simulation models that support master planning and transportation planning scenarios.
Transportation design at WSP Opus involves staff in each of our 40 New Zealand offices, accounting for about 500 people with specialist skills in transport infrastructure design, highway and streetscape design, traffic engineering, road safety, pavement engineering, materials selection, rail and public transport design, and port and airport design.
We also do a lot of research in the land transportation sector, looking at road networks, public transport, active transport and the integration of transport with land use.
